MAHONING TWP. – An unknown electrical problem caused a fire scare at Marie JosephManor Saturday, and some residents were evacuated.
Firefighters could not find a source for the smoke or any damage in the personal care home after getting the 2:30 p.m alarm, said Mahoning Township Fire Chief Todd Gibson.
He said there was a lot of electrical smoke in the chapel area that rose to the second and third floors.
About two dozen residents sat outside in the sun wrapped in white blankets as firefighters scoured the building, including the roof.
About a dozen more residents were moved to another wing, and one man was taken to Geisinger for an unknown medical problem, Gibson said.
The residents were moved back inside about 4:30 p.m.
Most crews were sent home about 5 p.m., but some stayed to continue investigating.
The building houses about 85 people, police said.
Crews from Mahoning Township, Danville, Riverside, Valley Township, Liberty Township, Montour Township and Catawissa responded.
Danville and Bloomsburg ambulances, Danville Fire Police and police from Danville and Mahoning Township were also on site.
